The government on Monday released guidelines on the processing of data collected through the Aarogya Setu App. In this, the data collected through this app has been banned from storing more than 6 months and a provision of jail has been made for violation of certain rules. Let us know that there was a concern by many parties regarding the safety of the data collected through the Arogya Setu App, keeping in mind that an option has been given in the guidelines issued by the government that any person can use his Arogya Setu app One can apply for data deletion and within 30 days of receiving such application, the applicant’s data will be removed from the Arogya Setu app.

However, senior government officials are assuring that privacy protection is an important aspect of the Arogya Setu App. Ajay Prakash Sahni, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, said in a conversation with reporters that a lot of work has been done to secure the data of the Arogya Setu app. A good privacy policy has been brought to protect the personal information of the people from misuse.

He further said that data privacy has been given a lot of importance in the Arogya Setu App. We use the information received from this app to identify hotspot areas. In the new guidelines issued in connection with the Health Bridge App, only demographic, people related to people infected with Corona virus and other people exposed to infected people. Permission has been given to collect information related to contact, self assessment and location.

Till date, around 9.8 crore people have downloaded the Arogya Setu app. Downloading the Arogya Setu App has been made mandatory in the COVID-19 Containment Zone. This app issues an alert to users when they come in contact with a person with a corona infection.
