TikTok, which has the largest user base in India after China, has seen a decline of 5 percent in May compared to April. On the other hand, TikTok has seen a decline of 38 per cent in June compared to May.

Due to increasing tension on LAC in Ladakh region and PM Modi’s Vocal for Local Appeal, many Indians have uninstalled many Chinese apps (Chines Apps) from their smartphones. A Times of India report quoted SensorTower’s data as saying that there has been a drop in downloads of all the popular Chinese apps. These apps include TikTok, Bigo Live, PUBG, Likee, Helo.

TikTok, which has the largest user base in India after China, has seen a decline of 5 percent in May compared to April. In comparison to May, TikTok has seen a decline of 38 per cent in downloads. The first quarter of FY 2020 was the most spectacular quarter for TikTok with 2 billion downloads. Of this, India’s share was 3.3 percent or 611 million.

There has also been a decline in downloads of popular game PUBG in May and June. Apart from this, many brands have not given their advertisements on these Chinese apps. However, experts say that once the tension on the border is over, these Chinese apps will once again see Indian advertisements. Santosh Pai of Link Legal, a firm that advises China companies to invest in India, said The buoyancy of the app is seeing a boom, but remember that the public sentiment changes from moment to moment. Social media addiction is like cocaine addiction. You can leave it in anger but will call it again when summoned.
