Digital media giants Facebook, twitter and Google may discontinue their service in Pakistan. These companies have raised objections about the new regulation of Imran Khan released for social media. His group Asia Internet Coalition (AIC) has written a letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan saying that if this law is not amended then they will stop their services in Pakistan.

It was written in the letter that under the new rules, it will be very difficult for AIC members to provide service to Pakistani users and businesses. AIC, established in 2010, is an industry association and is a member of Internet and technology companies such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo, Apple, Amazon and LinkedIn.

AIC said that we are not completely against the new regulation, Pakistan already has strict regulations for online content. But till now, appropriate steps have not been taken by the government regarding complaints related to freedom of expression and privacy.

What is the new law …Under the new regulation of social media, these companies will have to open their office in Islamabad, they will also have to build a data center in Pakistan. Apart from this, it has been said to share the data of users. On behalf of AIC, it was said that it cannot compromise any kind of data with users. This would be against his privacy and freedom of expression.

50 crore fine for breaking the law
Local servers, if called, will have to take care of the sensitivity of religious, cultural and national security by closing the accounts of Pakistanis living abroad. A penalty of 50 crore Pakistani rupees will have to be paid for breaking the law.
