Google has rebranded its video conferencing and messaging platform ‘Hangout’ to ‘Meet’ (Meet). Also, at the time of this lockdown, Google has also extended the date for accessing its premium features for free. Google announced last month that all G Suite customers can use the premium features of Meet till 1 July, but now it has been extended to 30 September.

Under the Google Meet Premium feature, up to 250 people can have a video conference simultaneously. Also, users can live stream content up to 100,000 viewers with domains. Apart from this, G Suite users can also record meetings in premium features.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai made this announcement while updating on the recent upsurge of Meet. Pichai said, ‘Google Meet has reached 2 million users. Further told that there are about 100 million students and teachers in Google Classroom, who have used the educational platform.

Google has extended the validity of this offer at a time when there is lockdown in the entire country. During this time people are resorting to video conferencing apps for school, office work. It is believed that this announcement from Google will benefit the company at this time, as is happening to the rest of the platform Zoom, Slack and Microsoft team.

For information, let us know that the rebranding of the hangout means that google meet from hangout is only for G Suite customers. The rest of the consumer focus chatting app is still a Hangout.
