A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh has issued notices to the Center, Facebook and WhatsApp asking them to present their views on the petition till May 13.

New Delhi. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a response from the central government and social media platforms – Facebook and WhatsApp – on a PIL filed against WhatsApp’s new privacy policy. A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh has issued notices to the Center, Facebook and WhatsApp asking them to present their views on the petition till May 13. WhatsApp told the bench that personal conversations of individuals are protected from end to end encryption. Petitioner Harsha Gupta urged the court to give some interim order as WhatsApp will give effect to its policy from May 15. In view of this, the court listed the matter for hearing on 13 May.
