WhatsApp has issued a statement amid concern about privacy.
new Delhi. WhatsApp said on Friday that messages sent through its platform are coded (encrypted) and that only the person sending and receiving the message can read it. The statement has been released amid concerns about alleged leaks of exchange of messages on WhatsApp regarding the narcotics of Bollywood actors and the privacy of conversations between WhatsApp users about it.
A WhatsApp spokesperson said, “The company keeps your message safe and it is done in code so that only you and the one you have sent can read it. No one, including WhatsApp, can read it.
The spokesperson said that people connect to WhatsApp using only the phone number and the Facebook-owned company does not have access to the message.
He said, ‘WhatsApp emulates guidelines regarding device storage of operating system manufacturers. We encourage people to take advantage of all security features, including passwords or biometric IDs available from the operating system. These security features prevent a third party from accessing the content available in the device. ‘
