WhatsApp’s changes bring ‘70% Forwaded Message’ down by 70%

WhatsApp informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) that ‘Frequent Forwarded Message’ has decreased by 70% due to WhatsApp’s initiative to set new limits.

Whatsapp recently set a new limit for sending frequent forwarded messages. WhatsApp has set a limit for sending fake forwarded messages to only one person at a time to prevent fake news, after which the message has gone viral. WhatsApp informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) that the ‘Frequent Forwarded Message’ has decreased by 70% due to WhatsApp’s initiative to set new limits.

In April, MeitY asked Tittock, Halo and Facebook to send a daily report detailing the measures taken to prevent the spread of misinformation on their platforms.

A spokesperson for WhatsApp said that after almost two weeks of the introduction of the new limit, the number of frequency forwarded messages sent to WhatsApp globally has decreased by 70 percent. This means that the prevalence of misinformation related to sensitive issues such as coronovirus epidemic has decreased compared to the last few months. This also means that most of the messages you receive on WhatsApp are likely to be authentic.

Change these features due to Corona virus

WhatsApp is connecting with other services to reduce network interruption during the corona virus (COVID-19) epidemic. In order to reduce the difficulty in the mobile network, WhatsApp has reduced the time limit of videos to be updated in the status update from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.
