Beyoncé appeals to remove Kelis sample from Renaissance album amid controversy

It appears like that Beyoncé just said goodbye to the sample way‘ on her new “milkshake” Renaissance album.

Days after Kelis publicly called out the “Break My Soul” singer and producer Pharrell Williams She will reportedly be used on “Energy”, the fifth song from Beyoncé’s new LP, to not mention an interpolation of her 2003 single. Rolling stone reported that the controversial sample has been removed from some music streaming services.

According to the outlet, interpolation is no longer heard when streamed on Apple Music and Tidal. however, as buzzfeed Noted, the lyrics video of the track, which was Originally uploaded to YouTube on July 28Sample still included.

until 2 August, Composer Credit for “Energy” Listed on Beyoncé’s official website, it notes that the song “contains an interpolation of ‘Milkshake’ written by Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and performed by Kelis.” It is unclear whether this will be changed to reflect an updated version of the tune.

I! News has reached out to Beyoncé’s reps and her label for comment on the updated version and has not heard back.
