Gujarati Movie Chhelo Show: Gujarati film “Chhelo Show”, has been nominated from India for the Oscar Awards. The Film Federation of India (FFI) has announced this. Titled “Last Film Show” in English, the Pan Nalin-directed film will hit theaters across the country on October 14.
“Chhelo Show” was unanimously chosen over films like SS Rajamouli’s “RRR”, Ranbir Kapoor-led “Brahmastra: Part One Shiva”, Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files” and R Madhavan’s directorial debut “Rocketry”. Gone. ‘Chhelo Show’ was unanimously chosen by a 17-member jury for India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards. There were a total of 13 films in different languages, including six in Hindi – ‘Brahmastra’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Anek’, ‘Jhund’, ‘Badhaai Do’ and ‘Rocketry’ – and Tamil (‘Irawin Nijal’), Telugu. (‘RRR’), one each in Bengali (‘Aparajito’) and Gujarati (‘Chhelo Show’), as well as a few others.
‘Chhelo Show’ to represent India at Oscars
“Chello Show” will represent the country in the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars. The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur’s banner Roy Kapur Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films, Chhelo Show LLP and Mark Duel.
The story of the film is inspired by the memories of a character named Nalin of falling in love with films as a child in the rural areas of Gujarat. The film’s story sets in a remote rural village in Saurashtra and follows the story of a nine-year-old boy who begins a lifelong love affair with cinema. This guy when he watches movies from a projection booth by paying some bribe in a cinema.
Nalin, known for directing the critically acclaimed films “Sansaar”, “Valley of Flowers” and “Angry Indian Goddesses”, expressed his gratitude to the FFI and the selection jury.
The film has won many accolades and awards. It had its world premiere as the inaugural film at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival. It has won several awards at various international film festivals including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain.
