Prince Edward Honors "dear mother" Queen Elizabeth II in a heartwarming message

More than a week after the Queen passed away at the age of 96, her youngest son expressed deep grief to his family. “As a family, we have grown up learning to share our parents, especially our beloved maternal uncle, with the nation, its territory and the Commonwealth,” the Earl of Wessex said in a statement on 16 September. “While it has been lovely to spend time at Balmoral saying your farewell privately, the time has come to enable others to bid their farewell.”

Prince Edward’s statement comes amid the Queen’s halt at Westminster Hall in London, where members of the public are able to pay their last respects to the late monarch. Prince and his brothers and sisters, King Charles III, princess anneAnd Prince Andrew A vigil was held next to his coffin on 16 September, while mourners were watching inside the hall.

In his statement, Edward also thanked the public in the midst of the family’s mourning.

“We are overwhelmed by the tide of emotion that has gripped us and so many have gone out of their way to express their love, admiration and respect for a very special and unique person who were always there for us,” he mentioned. “And now, we are there for her, united in grief. Thank you for your support, you have no idea how much this means.”
