Abolition of Article 370: PM Modi’s boldest decision in second term, thus fulfilled BJP’s dream

Article 370: As the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi completed his eight-year term in the month of May. Talking about the major achievements of the Modi government during these eight years, the decision to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir is considered quite revolutionary, historic and bold. This can be considered as the biggest decision of Modi’s second term as Prime Minister. Leaders of many political parties considered it impossible and beyond imagination, but PM Modi accomplished it with his determination.

The Modi government had abrogated Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, on this day in 2019 three years ago. Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories and both the states were given the status of Union Territories. Although this proposal introduced by the government in Parliament was strongly opposed by the opposition, but the government was successful in getting it passed.

BJP succeeded in fulfilling its agenda

Political experts had already said that during his second innings, Modi would implement his decisions more aggressively. Modi, who emerged stronger in his second innings, took the biggest decision during the first year regarding Jammu and Kashmir. With the approval of Parliament, Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir was removed and along with it the state was also divided into two parts.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been talking about abolishing the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in its election manifesto from the very beginning, but this work could not be done neither during the prime ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee nor during the first term of Modi. But during his second term, Modi took a major decision and abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

After this historic decision of Modi as PM, the system of one country, one legislation and one mark has been implemented in Kashmir as well. This move of the Modi government was considered a big victory for the BJP because through this it was able to implement its agenda.

resolve to work together

Later in his address to the nation, PM Modi said that the loss caused to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh due to this article was never discussed. On talking to anyone, he could not tell what benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir got from Article 370. He said that any government in the country, it works for the betterment of the people of the country by making laws in the Parliament. We have tried to bring new work culture and transparency in the administration of Jammu and Kashmir.

Decades of nepotism did not give leadership opportunities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Now the youth of Jammu and Kashmir will lead the development and take it to new heights. He also assured the people on Jammu and Kashmir that gradually the situation will become normal and their problems will also end. PM Modi said that who voted in Parliament and who did not, we have to work together and unitedly in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Don’t believe in vote bank politics

Through the big decision of abrogation of Article 370, the Modi government was successful in winning the hearts of a large section of the countrymen. Presenting this resolution amid heavy uproar by opposition MPs, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Article 370 has always been temporary. The earlier governments lacked political will and did not take any step towards ending it under vote bank politics. There is neither lack of political will within the Modi government nor do we believe in vote bank politics. That is why we have shown the courage to present a resolution to abrogate Article 370.

However, during this time the ruling party had to face heavy opposition from the opposition. Members of the Congress, the Trinamool Congress, the DMK and the PDP, in particular, expressed strong opposition. Many MPs came and sat in front of the podium, while PDP members tore their clothes and even tore copies of the Bill and the Constitution. On this attitude of the opposition, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu took a tough stand and directed the marshals to oust the rioting MPs from the House.

complete difficult tasks easily

Abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was considered a very difficult task. Leaders of many political parties even used to claim that BJP, however hard it may try, will never be able to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.

Political experts also believe that on the basis of his strong will and determination, three years ago, on this day, Modi has done what was considered impossible by the leaders of many political parties. It is considered the boldest decision of Modi’s second innings.

Jammu and Kashmir is changing

Terrorist incidents in the Valley have come down significantly after the abrogation of Article 370. Incidents of infiltration have decreased by 33% while there has been a 90% decline in incidents of ceasefire violations. Incidents related to terrorism have also come down by 61%. Cases of kidnapping by terrorists have also come down by 80 percent.

The stone pelters have come to the fore in the valley and a great success has also been achieved in tightening the noose on the terrorists. Investor interest in the Valley has increased. The activities of separatist groups have come to a standstill and terrorist masters are not getting a chance to interfere in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
