Delhi Liquor Policy Scam: Now the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also entered the investigation of the controversial Excise Policy of the Delhi Government. The investigating agency on Tuesday raided 35 locations in several states of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Gurgaon and Bangalore. Liquor traders are the target of ED. Let us tell you that the BJP is constantly accusing the Arvind Kejriwal government of benefiting the liquor traders through the new liquor policy.
The opposition party has alleged that due to the new excise policy, the Delhi government has suffered a revenue loss of crores of rupees. Due to this, the CBI had raided the house of many other bureaucrats and industrialists including Delhi’s Deputy CM cum Excise Minister Manish Sisodia in the past. The CBI has also searched Sisodia’s bank locker. However, today’s raid of ED does not include Manish Sisodia’s house.
ED raid in Delhi
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday raided the hideout of Sameer Mahendru, MD, M/s Indo Spirits, residing in Jor Bagh area of Delhi. He is accused of transferring Rs 1 crore to the account of UCO Bank at Rajendra Place of M/s Radha Industries. According to the information, the ED team had knocked at his residence at seven in the morning and took a member of the house with him.
Manish Sisodia has been made the main accused
Under the new excise policy brought by the Kejriwal government, liquor traders in Delhi were selling liquor to customers at a discounted rate. In many places, on buying one bottle, another was being given free of cost. BJP alleges that AAP government waived off Rs 144 crore of liquor mafia. Based on the report of the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the Lieutenant Governor had recommended a CBI inquiry into the new liquor policy.
CBI has registered a case against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia making him the main accused in this case. He has also been questioned for a long time during the raid in the past. The investigating agency had recovered secret documents from his house. However, Sisodia and AAP leaders claim that the CBI did not find anything in the raid, which proves that a scam has taken place.
On the other hand, BJP is attacking the Aam Aadmi Party regarding this. The party had on Monday released a sting video of Sunny Marwah’s father Kulwinder Marwah, who was made an accused in the liquor scam by the CBI. It has been claimed in the video that CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have earned a hefty commission from the new liquor policy. However, Sisodia has termed the video as fake.
