MP News : In Madhya Pradesh, once again there is a ruckus with the students. The bikes of lakhs of students have got brakes. Due to lack of budget, the state government has given up on distributing cycles under the “Bicycle Distribution Scheme”. This year about 5 lakh 30 thousand students were to get cycles. But now the government has decided to distribute cycles to only 40 thousand students of tribal areas.
Let us tell you, due to lack of budget, more than 92 percent of the students who were to get the benefit of the scheme will be deprived of it. However, the School Education Minister has still comforted the students. He said that, ‘At present, the children of the tribal block will get cycles. Will give the rest to the children later. However, the students also know very well that later they will not get a cycle.
It is worth mentioning that the state government gives free cycles to the children of class 6th and 9th studying in government schools. The government did not give cycles during the Corona period for two years. With the elections nearing, it was decided to give cycles for the year 2022-2023. Tender was issued in July for the purchase of 5.30 lakh cycles. Orders for supply of cycles for 5.30 lakh children were issued to three companies. But when it came time to take orders, the government had no money.
A budget of Rs 180 crore was fixed for the cycle distribution scheme. The School Education Department already had Rs 20 crore. The department had asked for Rs 160 crore in the supplementary budget for distribution of cycles. The department was fully expecting the budget to be passed, hence completed the process of purchasing 5.30 lakh cycles. But, now in the supplementary budget, the Finance Department has not given the amount in this item.
In such a situation, the education department has now decided to purchase only from the remaining 20 crore rupees. 40 thousand cycles will come for about 15 crores. Which will be divided into tribal dominated blocks. In view of the elections, the state considered it more necessary to distribute cycles in the tribal areas. It is being told that cycle distribution will be done in tribal blocks of Balaghat, Betul, Chhindwara, Hoshangabad, Seoni, Mandla, Dhar, Sheopur, Alirajpur, Barwani, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Sidhi, Anuppur, Dindori, Shahdol, and Umaria.
