MP police filed an FIR against Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury over President’s remarks on BJP leader’s complaint

The case was registered against Chowdhury following his remarks on President Draupadi Murmu on a complaint by former MP Om Prakash Dhurve.

An FIR has been registered in Madhya Pradesh against Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for his controversial remarks on President Draupadi Murmu on a complaint by a BJP leader, a police officer said on Sunday.

He said that the FIR lodged at Dindori police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which includes promoting enmity between different groups, has been sent to Parliament House police station in Delhi for action.

Inspector CK Sirame of Dindori Kotwali said that on the complaint of former MP Om Prakash Dhurve, Chaudhary was booked under sections 153 (A) (1) (promoting enmity between different groups) and 505 (statement to public mischief) of the IPC. A case was registered under Police Station SDR. “Dindori Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh has transferred the FIR to Delhi Police for observation and investigation,” he said.

Singh said that the incident took place in Delhi, so the FIR has been sent to Parliament House Police Station for action.
