Whats App News In India: Most of the people in India trust the news they get on WhatsApp. This has been found in a study released by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University. The study analyzed the responses of citizens in India, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the US to questions about trust in news outlets and social media platforms.

According to the study, 77 per cent of the respondents in India said they trust the news media in general. But 54 per cent of them said they trust the news they get on WhatsApp. 51 percent relied on Google and YouTube, 41 percent on Facebook, 27 percent on Instagram, 25 percent and 15 percent on Tiktok.

70 percent trust WhatsApp on news

The study also revealed that 70 per cent of those who had a favorable opinion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that they trust news on WhatsApp, while the number of those who had an unfavorable opinion about him was 58. The percentage was Nearly half the Indian respondents (48%) said they get news online at least once a day, the lowest figure among the four countries that were part of the study. Meanwhile, 34 per cent of Indians said they never get news from online sources. This is the highest figure so far in four countries.

69 percent people trust youtube

46 per cent of the respondents in India said that they use WhatsApp to receive news on a daily basis. Among politically interested Indians, a majority of respondents (69 per cent) said they rely on YouTube for news, while TikTok (24 per cent) was the least trusted platform for the purpose. However, among Indians who were not politically interested, the most trusted source was WhatsApp (46 per cent), while TikTok had the lowest level of trust (13 per cent).

The respondents were also asked about negative and positive perceptions about journalists. In India, 58 per cent of the respondents believed that most journalists manipulate the public to advance the agenda of powerful politicians. Whereas 57 per cent believed that journalists care more about getting attention than reporting facts. However, 57 per cent of the respondents in India also believed that journalists independently verify the information they report.
