Adil Rashid, who dismissed Virat Kohli for zero, is not sorry for not being selected in IPL 2021

Ahmedabad: England leg-spinner Adil Rashid has no regrets for not getting a chance in IPL 2021. He was not expected to be selected due to the presence of a large number of spinners in this tournament already.

Adil Rashid never managed to attract the attention of IPL franchisees even after a better performance at the international level in the last few years and the same happened in the last auction of India’s mega T20 league.

Rashid said on the eve of the second T20 International match against India, ‘I will not call it regrettable, obviously a large number of spinners are associated with this league. India also has a local spinner, so I did not expect to be elected myself.

The 33-year-old player said, ‘It would have been nice to have a contract from the IPL but as I said, you can send your name for such tournaments and hope that a team chooses you. The same happens in IPL or other tournaments.

England surprised India by bowling leg-spinner Adil Rashid in the first match of the 5-match T20 series on Friday. Rashid not only bowled economically but also dismissed Virat Kohli at zero.

He said, ‘Bowling with a new ball is not new to me. I have been working on this for the last few years. Hopefully I will be able to continue this performance, whether it is the first six overs or the middle and last overs, I want to work hard to improve myself.

After recovering from a shoulder injury, Adil Rashid is paying full attention to limited-overs cricket. He said, ‘I am not thinking about Test cricket or Ashes. World Cup is yet to be held and much cricket remains before that. I am focusing on white ball cricket right now.
