Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who faced a one-year ban for not providing contact information to bookies, was in the 18-member Bangladesh squad for the ODI series against the West Indies next week. Has been included which paves the way for his return to international cricket.

For this 3-match home series, 3 new faces Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmood and Mehdi Hasan have also been included in the team headed by Tamim Iqbal. This will be the first international tournament for Shakib after the ban. He was earlier included in the 24-member starting squad selected for this series.

The 33-year-old Shakib, who had captained Bangladesh’s Test and T20 International teams, returned to competitive cricket from the Bangabandhu T20 Cup domestic tournament in November last year. Apart from Shakib, fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hussain have also returned to Bangladesh team.
Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said, ‘Naturally we are happy with Shakib Al Hasan’s return to the team as we all know that he is capable of turning the match around and we hope to return to his best rhythm very soon are doing.
