B’day Special: Manish Pandey is the first Indian batsman to score a century in IPL


new Delhi: Manish Pandey is celebrating his 31st birthday today. Born on 10 September 1989 in Nainital, Uttarakhand, Manish did his studies from Bangalore. A fond of batting since childhood, Manish later became a part of the Karnataka state cricket team and started his cricketing journey. Moving slowly, Manish took his step forward and performed brilliantly in domestic cricket.

Manish was part of the team in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup and that year the Indian team won this trophy, India won this trophy under the captaincy of Virat Kohli .. after which he got the golden opportunity to play in the IPL (Indian Premier League). He got a chance and he also managed to capitalize on that opportunity.

In 2008, he made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, but failed to do anything special. But the next season everyone saw the power of Manish’s bat. On 21 May 2009, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he played a century against Deccan Chargers and with that Manish became the first Indian batsman to score a century in the IPL. Manish scored an unbeaten 114 in 73 balls with the help of 10 fours and 4 sixes.

After this he played for Pune Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders. This batsman also played a key role in getting KKR the title in 2014. In 2018 he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 11 crores and he became the most expensive player in the team. After this, Hyderabad also retained him in 2019 and this year also this player will be seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Talking about the Indian team, Manish had to wait a long time for that. Manish got a place in Team India after 6 years of his first IPL century, but he has not been able to cash in on the continuous opportunities in the Indian team. He played his first international ODI against Zimbabwe on 14 July 2015. Manish has played only 26 ODIs so far, in which he has scored a total of 492 runs at an average of 35.14. He also has a century and two half-centuries to his name. At the same time, Manish has scored 707 runs in 38 T20 Internationals with an average of 47.13.
