Brisbane Test: Mohammad Siraj became emotional after remembering his father, said- ‘I wish Abbu would be alive to see today’

Brisbane: In the Brisbane Test between India and Australia (IND vs AUS), Mohammad Siraj has won everyone’s heart with his performance. He started his Test career on this tour and now in the second innings of the third Test, he sent 5 batsmen of the host team to the pavilion.

Mohammad Siraj became emotional after taking 5 wickets in the innings for the first time in his Test career and it was not easy for him to express his feelings. Nevertheless, this fast bowler on Monday alerted the Indian batsmen about the wicket of Gaba in which there have been mild cracks.

Siraj took five wickets for 73 runs in Australia’s second innings in the fourth Test match. Australia has set a target of 328 runs in front of India by scoring 294 runs in the second innings. Siraj feels that there has been some rough places in the pitch from where uneven bounce can be found.

Siraj said in a virtual press conference on Monday, “When he bowls, there will definitely be some confusion in the mind of the batsmen due to some cracks in the pitch but our batsmen are ready for it.” We will only know about it tomorrow.

The fast bowler was asked if he would be willing to bat in chasing the target, he said, “If I get a chance, I will bat.” Our goal is to win this series, especially despite the injury of so many players, our team presented a tough challenge in the first innings.

Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of Steve Smith on a short pitch ball which is his favorite wicket in this series along with Marnus Labuschagne. Apart from this, he has taken the wicket of the Kangaroos opener David Warner 2 times in this series.

He said, ‘I think in the whole series it will be Steve Smith’s wicket. There was an extra bounce from some areas and I felt that it might give me success. He is one of the best batsmen in the world and taking his wicket has increased my confidence considerably. Apart from this, the wicket of Marnus Labushen also boosted my morale.

He said, ‘Apart from this, the way youth get opportunities, whether it is Natarajan or Washington. All of them took advantage of them. Everyone did well on their behalf. I especially thank Ajinkya Rahane for showing confidence in the youth and boosting my morale. He kept talking to me all the time and this boosted my confidence.

The last 2 months were also difficult for Siraj. His father Mohammed Ghaus died and he could not even get into his funeral but his hard work finally paid off. He said, ‘My father wanted my son to play on behalf of the country and the whole world would see him playing. I wish he were alive to see today.

He said, ‘It is the result of his prayers that I took 5 wickets. I am a verb and I cannot express my feelings in words. It was a difficult situation. After talking to the mother after Abbu’s death, I got strength and I turned my attention to fulfilling the dream of Abbu.

Siraj had only two Test matches prior to this match but led the attack in the absence of senior bowlers. He said, ‘I don’t consider myself a senior bowler but I have played a lot of cricket at the domestic level and from India A and it helped me. I missed Jassi Bhai (Jaspreet Bumrah) and that’s why I took more responsibility and put pressure. ‘
