new Delhi: FIFA canceled the Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be played in India in view of the threat of Coronavirus epidemic and handed it the right to host 2022. The tournament was postponed to 2021 due to Kovid-19. This decision was taken by the FIFA Council bureau which assessed the impact of the current Kovid-19 epidemic on global football.

FIFA Confederation Working Group constituted for COVID-19 (COVID-19) due to inability to postpone these tournaments (Under-17 Women’s and Under-20 Women’s World Cups), the statement issued from FIFA said. The FIFA-Confederation Kovid-19 Working Group canceled the Under-17 Women’s World Cup as well as the Under-20 Women’s World Cup 2020 after consulting all stakeholders. Both the next World Cup will be held in 2022, which will be hosted by the current host countries.
“After further consultation between FIFA and the respective host member associations regarding the 2022 editions of the tournament, the bureau gave Costa Rica the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup 2022 and India the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup 2022,” the statement said. The host is assigned.
Earlier in India, this World Cup was scheduled to be held in November this year but due to Kovid-19, it was postponed to next year (2021) February-March.
