
England’s camp said on Wednesday that the injury “failed to heal as expected and Knight’s treatment would continue”.
Nat Sciver will remain England’s captain at the Commonwealth Games, where no replacement player can be called up, leaving the host nation with a 14-strong squad for the remainder of the competition. Knight will be in Birmingham with the team.
Knight had injections in his hip joint while sitting in the final two games of the South Africa series in an effort to recover from the injury, but Sciver revealed on Tuesday that Knight had undergone further scans, seeing only minor improvement.
“He’s not in a good place,” Sciver said. “She is better than the last few days, still a little pain in her hip.
England are already assured of a semi-final spot at Edgbaston, with their final clash against New Zealand on Thursday to determine who tops Group B.
