Recent Match Report – Afghanistan vs Pakistan 10th Match, Super Four 2022

toss Pakistan chose to bowl vs. Afghanistan

An unchanged Pakistan won the toss and, surprisingly, opted to bowl first against Afghanistan in Sharjah in their Asia Cup game, the result of which would have implications for all teams in the Super 4.

If Pakistan beat Afghanistan, they would qualify for the final along with Sri Lanka, making the last two Super 4 games – India v Afghanistan and Sri Lanka v Pakistan – irrelevant. Afghanistan will be looking to bounce back from their loss to Sri Lanka in the first match of Super 4. If they win, all four teams will be alive.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that he expected dew in the second half and cited it as the reason for his decision. Mohammad Nabi, playing his 100th T20 match, said that he too wanted to bowl first.
Afghanistan made two changes: Azmatullah Omerzai, who was unwell for the previous game, came back in place of Samiullah Shinwari, and Farid Ahmed replaced Naveen-ul-Haq, who the prophet said was “rested”.

The match is being played on the same pitch where Pakistan bowled out Hong Kong for 38 runs. But, according to Wasim Akram, who was speaking on the official broadcast, this time the surface looked “much better” for batting.
