Yorkshire agree to pay Andrew Gayle, Rich Pyrah compensation

Andrew Gayle and Rich Pyrah have agreed compensation with Yorkshire after winning their case for unfair dismissal.

Gayle, the former captain and head coach, and Pyrah, who spent more than a decade on Yorkshire’s sports staff before becoming bowling coach, were among 16 members suddenly sacked in the wake of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal last year.

Yorkshire’s accounts showed the club had set aside £1.9 million for compensation and legal matters, with Gayle set to achieve a six-figure settlement. daily Mail,

A statement from Yorkshire said: “On 3 December 2021, Yorkshire County Cricket Club Ltd made the decision to sack its coaching and medical staff. The club has acknowledged that the dismissal of that group of staff was procedurally unfair .

“After meaningful negotiations between the Club and legal advisors acting on behalf of Andrew Gale and Richard Pyrah, the parties may confirm that the acceptable terms of the Agreement have been met.

“The financial terms of the settlements are confidential and no further public statements will be made regarding the terms.”

Yorkshire have reportedly agreed an out-of-court deal with the club’s former strength and conditioning coach Ian Fischer.
