“Don’t be surprised”: Ravi Shastri backs this rule to be tried in T20s

Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has said that the introduction of the super-sub rule could prove to be a “gamechanger” for the shortest format of the game. As the tournament began with a special benefit match between the India Maharajas and team World Giants at the Eden Gardens on Friday, Legends League Cricket (LLC) introduced a super-sub rule in a first of its kind. The unique rule states that each team will have a “super substitute” which they can use in any innings of the match after the completion of 10 overs.

However, teams are required to announce the names of these “super sub” players before the start of the game.

Legends League Cricket Match Commissioner Ravi Shastri feels that the implementation of this rule can be a game changer. With the development of the game every year, the former India coach says that this rule may be used in international cricket in future.

“I see this game evolving all the time. Who knows tomorrow it could be something that is used internationally as well. Don’t be surprised because this is a format that can evolve, especially like this. In tournaments where you are not bound by some rules. You can make your own rules in such tournaments or even IPL, or Big Bash. If you want to experiment or try something new, So this is the place to do it,” the former India all-rounder said in Kolkata. Friday.

The league phase of the Legends League will begin from September 17 and will comprise of four teams namely Gujarat Giants, India Capitals, Manipal Tigers and Bhilwara Kings.

Around 90 cricket greats will take part in 16 matches across 6 venues.

Speaking about the LLC and his role in the tournament, Shastri said, “It is a wonderful opportunity. This is a new chord for Dhanush. Sometimes, it can just be motivational to keep oneself fit and try something different. I am always ready and ready to work for the benefit of the sport and for the promotion of the sport in different parts of the world.”

He said: “Basically, my job in this league is to make sure the cricket part of it goes well. There’s a sense of pride in what you do. The work ethic has to be solid. There’s an integrity quotient attached to it. It’s happened. So, you have anti-corruption units. These aren’t exhibition games. It’s proper stuff under proper guidelines and every aspect is being looked at as if you would play an international game. When that happens. When that happens, the players start taking it. Seriously. They know they’re not here for a holiday. They realize that people all over the world are watching them, for them to enjoy the league and themselves It is important to express
