London: England cricket team’s fast bowler Ollie Robinson has been suspended from international cricket by the ECB due to racist tweets. After Robinson’s trapped, Indian fans have now demanded suspension of England captain Eoin Morgan and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who won their first World Cup.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is investigating their national team’s limited overs players Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler for alleged racial remarks mocking Indians.
Morgan and Butler’s tweets also went viral
The ECB promised “relevant and appropriate action”, saying each case would be considered on an individual basis.
Telegraph.co.uk reported, ‘Screenshot of Butler’s message has also been shared, in which he said, ‘I always reply to sir number one like me, like you, like me’ ‘.
Morgan (Eoin Morgan) tagged Buttler (Jos Buttler) and wrote in a message, ‘Sir you are my favorite batsman.’ Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum was also involved in the conversation of these two.
“While the exact context of these tweets has been questioned, they were written at a time when Buttler and Morgan had become established players of England and in such a situation they made such objectionable comments on social media,” the report said. The ECB said that this matter will be dealt with appropriately.
Morgan and Butler in trouble
“We were alerted last week about the offensive tweet, so the old social media posts of other players have also been publicly questioned,” an ECB spokesperson said.
“There is no place for discrimination in our sport and we are committed to taking relevant and appropriate action where necessary,” he said. All cases will be considered on individual basis keeping in view all the facts. We will assess matters with the ECB Board before commenting further on this. Let us tell you that a tweet related to homosexuality of 2010 fast bowler James Anderson has also surfaced.
Robinson’s career may end as soon as it starts
Ollie Robinson’s career is on the verge of ending as soon as it starts. He has been suspended by the ECB and his tweets are still being investigated. In fact, in the year 2012-13, Robinson had made racist and sexist tweets and due to this big action was taken against him. On the other hand, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is not happy with the decision to ban Robinson.
