New Delhi: MSK Prasad, the former chief selector of Team India, says that during his tenure, he took decisions against the legend players in view of the future of Indian cricket. Prasad was asked whether he had to deal with the retirement of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) during his tenure. Prasad’s tenure ended in March.
Prasad breaks silence on Dhoni’s retirement
MSK Prasad said, ‘As a selector, you have to take some tough decisions keeping in mind the future of Indian cricket, which also has to go against the legend players.’ Prasad said, ‘Identifying the right successor is the main job of the selector. As a selector, you have to be impartial and control your emotions while taking tough decisions. There can be no other like Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar because they are different players and their contribution has no value.
Prasad made many revelations
Prasad said, ‘You have to do what you are called to do. Seven big players of the team were not playing, even after this, young players of India A were included in their place on the Australia tour and if the team wins, then it is a big achievement of our hard work.
India is the number one Test team for four years
Prasad said that he is very happy that the Indian team has made it to the final of the World Test Championship. Prasad said, ‘There are no two opinions in how much happiness and satisfaction you have got from this. We gave our best as a selection. We made our small contribution in that the Indian team was able to make it to the World Test Championship. This team deserved it, because Team India has been the number one Test team for the last four years. I can’t wait to watch the final match now.
