Paris: Switzerland’s star player Roger Federer, who was in the quest for his 21st Grand Slam title, had to sweat hard for 4 sets to win the third round of the French Open tennis tournament.
There was a time during the match that Federer would not be able to make it to the fourth round for the first time since 2004, but in the end he defeated 59th ranked Dominik Koepfer 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 7-6(4), managed to register a 7-5 win. This match lasted till one o’clock in the night and after nine o’clock in the night due to the imposition of Corona curfew, this match was played without spectators.

‘It was not an easy victory’
Roger Federer said, ‘It was not easy to defeat him. I maintained my composure. I was really trying to motivate myself. Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam winner, will turn 40 on August 8. Before this, he was eliminated in the third round of the French Open 17 years ago.

Most times reached the fourth round
Roger Federer has reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the 68th time, which is a record. He is followed by Novak Djokovic (54) and Rafael Nadal (50). These three are in the same ‘half’ of the Grand Slam competition for the first time and all of them will face the Italian players on Monday. 8th seed Federer will face 9th seed Matteo Berrettini, top seed Djokovic will face Lorenzo Musetti and third seed Nadal will face 18th seed Yannick Sinar.
