In 2013, Virat Kohli was given the command of the RCB team, but even after 8 years passed, he did not get the chance to become the champion even once. Although the team traveled to the finals in the year 2016, but it was not bereft of the trophy.
Former captain Gautam Gambhir has lashed out at the flop performance of Virat Kohli as captain, Gambhir said, “This is an opportunity for Kohli to come forward and take responsibility for this result.”
When Gambhir was asked whether RCB should think ahead of Kohli in terms of captaincy, ‘100 per cent, because the problem is with accountability. In tournament 8 years (without trophy), 8 years is a long time.
Gambhir said, ‘Leave me about any other captain, captain, tell me any player who has been 8 years and has not won the title and he has remained in a team. It should be accountability. A captain needs to take responsibility.
He further said, ‘It is not just a matter of a year. Not just about this year. I am not against Virat Kohli but somewhere he needs to raise his hand and he will say- ‘Yes, I am responsible. I am accountable.
Gambhir said, ‘What happened to Ravichandran Ashwin. He could not produce better results for Kings XI Punjab and was removed. We talk about MS Dhoni, we talk about Rohit. But we talk about Virat Kohli? off course not.
Dhoni has won 3 titles, Rohit Sharma 4, which is why he captained for so long as he has proved himself. I believe that if Rohit had not proved it for 8 years, he would have been removed as well. There should not be different things for different people.
