Christchurch: England star all-rounder Ben Stokes’ father Ged Stokes has passed away. Ged breathed his last on Tuesday after battling brain cancer for a year. He was 65 years old.
Ben Stokes is currently on a tour of South Africa for a limited overs series with the England team. He played 3 T20 Internationals, but was rested in the ODI series. The series was canceled on Monday after several cases of COVID-19 (COVID-19) infection in the bio bubble.

Former rugby player and coach Ged Stokes had been suffering from brain cancer for some time and Stokes had been in Christchurch for more than a month before taking care of his ailing father. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on its official Twitter handle, ‘Our condolences are with him and his family after Ben Stokes’ father Gade died.

During the 2019 series in South Africa, Stokes paid respects to his father by making a ‘middle finger bend’ gesture. He did this because his father had to have a part of his finger amputated to continue playing.
