New Delhi: Team India has to face New Zealand in their next match of T20 World Cup. Before this match, India had to face defeat by 10 wickets against Pakistan. Now in the next match, India needs to beat New Zealand at any cost to stay in this tournament. But before this do or die match, Team India has got a great news.
New Zealand’s big match winner out
New Zealand’s T20 World Cup campaign suffered a major setback when fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was ruled out of the major tournament with a ‘grade two’ injury to his calf ahead of the team’s first match against Pakistan on Tuesday. This news is very good from India’s point of view because in the next match there was a big threat to Team India from this deadly bowler. Let us tell you that fast bowler Adam Milne will replace him in the 15-man squad after getting approval from the technical committee of the ICC.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said Ferguson felt tightness in his right calf after training on Monday night. This was followed by an MRI scan which revealed a grade II injury that would take three to four weeks to heal.
Wrecked havoc in IPL
Lockie Ferguson also bowled amazingly in the recently concluded IPL 2021. While playing for KKR, this bowler had suffocated the big batsmen. On the basis of his brilliant bowling, KKR had helped to reach the final. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said in a statement, “It is disappointing for Lockie to see this happening on the eve of the tournament and the entire team is disappointed for him at the moment.” New Zealand have five pool matches to play in the next 13 days and coach Stead said they had no option but to drop Ferguson from the tournament.
Stead said, ‘He is an important part of our T20 team and was in very good form so it is a big blow to lose him at this time. However, we are fortunate that in Adam we have the same option as him who has been training with the team for the last two weeks.
India lost to Pakistan
Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in the ICC T20 World match played at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. This is Pakistan’s first win over India in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, after losing the toss, opting to bat, the start of the Indian team was not good. India had given a target of 152 runs to Pakistan. In response, the Pakistan team, chasing 152 runs, completed the target in 17.5 overs.
