New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team will visit Australia later this year. On this tour, Team India will play Day-Night Test for the first time in the history of women’s cricket. Team India’s tour of Australia will be from 30 September to 3 October.
The day-night test match will be played in Perth, where the day-night test has not been done yet. Secretary of the Board of Cricket in India, Jai Shah gave this information on Twitter on Thursday. After which Cricket Australia announced the program.
Indian women’s team to play first day-night test
Shah said on Twitter that this is part of India’s strategy to promote women’s cricket.
Shah tweeted, ‘Taking my commitment to women’s cricket forward, I am delighted to announce that the Indian women’s cricket team will play the day-night Test in Australia later this year’.
The Indian women’s team will play the Test in England from June 16, which will be its first Test in seven years. After this, there will be three ODIs (19 to 24 September) and T20 series (7 to 11 October) along with Test on Australia tour.
Team India will play Test after 7 years
The tour schedule has not been announced yet, but it is likely to be in mid-September. India last played a Test against Australia in 2006.
The only day and night Test in women’s cricket has been played between Australia and England in Sydney in November 2017 which was a draw.
England and Australia are the only two teams in women’s cricket that play consecutive Tests. Indian team will play test against these two.
Australia captain Mag Lanning said, ‘We have been saying for a long time that Test cricket should be more. it will be exciting. The Indian team will play the Test in England and this shows that it will be ready for the challenge.
