ICC Test Rankings: Ajinkya Rahane gains, Virat Kohli remains at number two

Dubai: Team India captain Virat Kohli has retained the second position in the ICC Test batsmen rankings, while the caretaker captain Ajinkya Rahane (Ajinkya Rahane) has moved up five places to number six. Rahane scored 112 and 27 not out in the second Test against Australia in Melbourne to help India win by eight wickets. He reached 5th place in the ranking in October last year.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has moved up two places to 7th position, while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved up to 9th position. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc reached 5th place. At the same time, batsman Matthew Wade has reached the top 50. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson overtook Steve Smith of Australia to take first place. Smith slipped to third place.

Williamson earlier reached the top for some time in 2015. He topped the first Test against Pakistan in Tauranga by scoring a century. He is 11 points ahead of Kohli, who will not be able to play the rest of the match against Australia due to paternity leave. Pakistan’s Fawad Alam has climbed 80 places to 102nd, while Mohammad Rizwan is at a career-best 47th position.
