ICC World Test Championship: England slipped to number four after a crushing defeat, Team India benefited tremendously

Chennai: In the second Test match against England, Team India showed a great game and won a big 317 runs. With this win, Team India have equalized the series 1-1 and at the same time reached the second position in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship (WTC) rankings.

With this victory at Chepauk’s field, India (Team India) has moved up to second place after New Zealand with 69.7 points and a total of 460 points in the WTC rankings. The top two teams from the table will play the final in June at Lord’s ground.

New Zealand have a total of 420 points with 70 percentage points. The Indian team lost the first match of the series by 227 runs. In such a situation, India needs at least one win and one draw to reach the WTC final.

Before this test, Indian team was in fourth place. Virat Kohli’s team is playing the sixth series in the WTC cycle in which they have won 10 matches while losing four. A match is being drawn.

In the second Test played in Chennai, Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, India’s opener Rohit Sharma put up a fierce class of English bowlers and played a brilliant innings of 161 runs in 231 balls in the first innings. Ajinkya Rahane also hit a crucial 67 in the first innings.

In this first innings, Team India strengthened their position by scoring 329 runs. In response to 329 runs, the England team proved to be a complete flop and was reduced to just 134 runs.

Ashwin and Virat Kohli became the heroes for Team India in the second innings. The partnership of 97 runs in 177 balls between the two. Virat Kohli scored 62 runs in 149 balls while Ashwin played a vigorous innings and scored a century of 106 runs in 148 balls. In the second innings, India scored 286 runs and set a target of 482 runs to win against England. England team flopped in the chase of this huge goal and in the second innings also flopped and India won.
