Kaneria revealed ‘mistake’ in selection
Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria feels that India has made a mistake by not selecting the wrist spinner for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. According to him, Rahul Chahar could add new dimensions to his attack.

‘India’s team strong’
Kaneria told PTI from Karachi, ‘India has selected a strong team, overall their team is good but the thing to note is that they have not selected the wrist spinner. He has finger spinners in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja but he does not have wrist spinner, right hand leg spinner.
Kaneria’s experience of England
Kaneria, who played for English County Essex, said that England’s conditions are favorable for leg-spinners. He said, ‘When you play in England, there is a lot of moisture there. I have a lot of experience playing there. I have played county cricket for 8 years under different circumstances.
‘Leg spinner is beneficial’
Kaneria said, ‘When the season starts, there are county matches. The wicket feels sunny but the humidity remains. Wherever there are favorable conditions for the seamer, the leg spinner is also useful and so when I used to play county cricket, it was successful there. Therefore, it is a matter of little concern that there is no leg-spinner in the Indian team.
‘Rahul Chahar would have been beneficial’
Kaneria said, “The finger spinner can put a check, but being a finger spinner and wrist spinner can have an impact on the team.” Spinner Kaneria, who took the highest wicket from Pakistan, said that Rahul Chahar could prove useful for the Indian team.
‘Sodhi’s answer is chahar’
Kaneria said, “ He should have been in the team given Rahul Chahar’s stature and the way he bowled. New Zealand has a leg-spinner of the same stature as Ish Sodhi and Virat Kohli always struggles in front of the leg-spinner as we saw in the case of Adam Jampa.
‘Chahar’s good performance in MI’
Danish Kaneria said, ‘So I think if there is room for leg-spinner then Chahar, who has done well for Mumbai Indians and India, could prove to be beneficial as he does googly, flipper and leg spin. . ‘
