Sharjah: In the third match of the Women’s T20 Challenge Series 2020, Supernovas led by Harmanpreet Kaur beat the Trailblazers by 2 runs in an exciting way. With this victory, the team of Supernovas has reached the finals of this competition this year. Earlier, Supernovas batting first gave Smriti Mandhana’s team a target of 147 runs in 20 overs. In response, the Trailblazers lost the match by scoring 144-5 runs in 20 overs.

Chamari Attapattu played a brilliant innings
Sri Lanka’s Chamari Attapattu maintained his brilliant form with a half-century that helped the two-time champion Supernovas score 146 for six in the crucial match of the Women’s T20 Challenge against the Trailblazers. Batting first, Atapattu scored 67 off 47 balls for the Supernovas which included five fours and four sixes.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a 29-ball 31 inning. Supernovas had scored 80 runs without loss in ten overs, but the Trailblazers spinners Harleen Deol and Salma Khatoon conceded just 23 runs in the next five overs. Both took one wicket each.
Priya Poonia opened the account with the ninth ball to start the innings with Attapattu. He got his life on the score of 17 when Dotin dropped his catch off Rajeshwari Gaikwad. In the end, Poonia was caught by Kipoon at the hands of Deepti for 37 runs. He added 89 runs with Attapattu for the first wicket. Atapattu completed his half-century in 37 balls. She returned to the pavilion by catching Hemlata off Harleen in the 17th over.
Deepti’s struggle did not work
Captain Mandhana and Dotin got off to a great start by chasing the target of 147 runs from the Supernovas. Dotin added 44 runs for the first wicket with Mandhana 33 before being dismissed for 27 runs. So in the middle, only Deepti Sharma played an excellent innings of 43 runs while remaining unbeaten.
But Deepti’s innings did not prove to be so effective that he would have won his team’s victory. Alam was that the score of the Trailblazers could not extend beyond 144-5 runs in 20 overs.
