Natarajan came with the team as a net bowler. He, along with bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur, bowled Australia for 369 runs in the first innings and according to Rohit it was nothing short of an achievement.

Rohit said of the debutant Natarajan (3 wickets for 78 runs), ‘To be honest, Natarajan bowled very well. He was playing for the first time outside the country and bowling so many experienced batsmen, it was not so easy and he was not under any pressure.

He said, ‘From the very first ball, he was good. He showed restraint, he is a player of strong personality, who does not speak much but we all know that he is a player with strong personality. They want to do well for the team and themselves. He will remain here.

Rohit said that the overall experience of the Indian bowling Akare was 4 Tests, given that Australia should be praised for bundling Australia for so many runs on the batting-friendly wicket.

Rohit said, ‘More of these bowlers are playing in Australia for the first time. Siraj has played 2 matches and Saini played in Sydney. They certainly do not have much experience.

He said, ‘But he showed a lot of discipline and if I have to assess the performance of these bowlers, then I would say that he bowled very well. It is still a good pitch. It was a great experience for him in which he tested himself by bowling the best batsmen.
