Ahmedabad: England captain Joe Root has said that the pitch for the fourth and final Test against India looks like the pitch of the third Test match in which his team had to face a crushing defeat within 2 days.
However, Joe Root also said that his team has learned a lesson from the previous matches and they are fully prepared for the challenge starting on February 4. India defeated England by 10 wickets in the third Test.

India need to win or draw this match to make it to the final of the ICC World Test Championship in June, while a win for England will help gain some lost confidence.
When asked about the pitch from Root, he said, ‘This (pitch) looks exactly like that pitch. I think the most important thing is that we learn a lesson from the last 2 Tests and make sure that we are ready for it.
He said here at the virtual press conference on the eve of the fourth Test, “It is important that if we reach the same position in the first innings, then we can really take advantage of it.” And then dominate the match early in the match by scoring on the scoreboard.
Root said that England batsmen would like to form partnerships. He said, ‘I think as a batsman, if you don’t score runs, then you always have to look at yourself, you have to try and find ways to improve and we definitely did it.’
He said, “If the pitch is the same this time, then we will find ways to make big partnerships and make some good scores.” Root said that the team has not yet picked the playing XI but made it clear that off-spinner Dominic Bess will definitely be selected.
He said, ‘Now we will see one more day to see what this wicket looks like finally and will tell the team on the toss itself. He (Dom Base) will definitely be elected. He is training well. I am confident that if he gets a chance to play, he will be desperate to try to take advantage of the pitch, if the pitch is like the last 2 matches.
