London: England spinner Jack Leach bowled with Ravichandran Ashwin (R Ashwin) and Akshar Patel (Axar patel) in the third Test match played with pink ball. Jack Leach said that R Ashwin is a world class bowler. Jack Leach said that he is keen to learn the nuances of spin bowling with the pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Akshar Patel.
Ashwin and Akshar did wonders
The Indian team has maintained a 2–1 lead in the four-match series by winning the Day Night Test match played in Ahmedabad by 10 wickets within two days. Ashwin and Akshar took 18 of England’s 20 wickets on the Ahmedabad spinners’ assisted pitch.
Jack Leach wants to learn from Ashwin
Jack Leach said, ‘When you see players achieving so much success, like Ravichandran Ashwin, who has just completed 400 wickets in Tests and has a lot of experience in India. Akshar Patel has made a great start in Test cricket, so you definitely try to learn from him.
Akshar Patel is getting the benefit of length
Jack Leach said, “It is important that you do not look at it emotionally and neither think that ‘I want to bowl like them’.” Ashwin is a right-handed bowler, in which case I do not want to bowl like him. Akshar is a left-arm bowler and taller than me, I cannot change my height.
Ashwin is very clever in bowling
The 29-year-old bowler said that Ashwin is very clever in making changes in bowling. He said, “He feeds the ball at the same place and the way he uses the seam and the other part of the ball changes a lot.” He said, ‘Akshar is such a bowler who does not change much about the place of feeding. He gets help from the pitch using the seam. He has been very effective on the pitches we have played recently.
Leach told Kohli-Rohit the best
Leach is ready for the challenge of the fourth Test and his confidence has increased after the wickets of four Indian top order batsmen in the third Test. He said, ‘We are all excited to learn new and are excited by the challenge. You have to be ready for this, because if it was so easy, it would not be a Test match.
Leach said that he will not get a better four wickets than the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. He said, ‘I am happy with the wickets that I have taken. It is not easy to bowl some of the best players in the world at their home. I don’t think I would get four wickets better than this. This has boosted my confidence a lot.
