New Delhi: Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has praised fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for his brilliant performance in India’s win over England at Lord’s Test. Zaheer also believes that the heated exchange with James Anderson acted as an inspiration for Bumrah in the match.
Zaheer said on Bumrah’s anger
Cricbuzz quoted Zaheer Khan as saying, ‘If angry, he can push himself and perform like this, then I believe he should take this kind of pain from the opposition many times. Look, he didn’t get a wicket in the first innings and being a class bowler, I’m sure he must be upset.
Used anger right – Zaheer
Zaheer Khan further said, ‘After that, the whole matter of Anderson came to light, the bouncers he bowled to him and then batting, the way the England fast bowlers went to fight him, all those things inspired him. And he used that anger in the right way. The players of England must be thinking that ‘we should have allowed Bumrah to bowl the bouncer’ and should not have played with him. The intensity with which Bumrah bowled was commendable.
this was the whole matter
The Bumrah-Anderson fight took place on the third day in the Lord’s Test. Bumrah bowled an over of 10 balls to Anderson, in which he bowled four bouncers. Apart from bowling a no-ball, Bumrah also made some short-pitched deliveries to the Lancashire cricketer but he managed to save his wicket. However, Mohammed Shami clean bowled Anderson on the last ball of the third day and when the players were going back to the dressing room, everyone saw Anderson getting into a war of words with Bumrah. After this, Bumrah first scored 34 important runs in an unbeaten 89-run partnership with Shami and then he also did wonders with the ball.
