Pune: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have left behind Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden in a century partnership in One Day International cricket as an opening pair. Rohit and Dhawan shared a 103-run partnership for the first wicket in the third ODI against England on Sunday.

Rohit and Dhawan also left behind Gilchrist and Hayden’s record of sharing 100 or more runs 16 times in ODIs. Rohit and Dhawan have made a century partnership in ODI international cricket 17 times. They have reached the second place in the list of the most joint partnership salute pairs.
Sachin and Ganguly pair on top
Before them, it is the Indian pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who have shared more than 100 runs 21 times in ODIs. Gilchrist and Hayden are third in the list, while West Indies’ Garden Greenies and Desmond Hanes are fourth with a 15-century partnership. Meanwhile, the record of the most century partnership in ODIs is also in the name of Sachin and Ganguly, who have shared 100 or more runs 26 times. Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara have finished second in this list, who have done this feat 20 times. In third place are Rohit and Virat Kohli, 18 times and in fourth place are Rohit and Dhawan, who have scored a century partnership 17 times.
