Pune: The second match of the three-match ODI series between India and England will be played at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Suryakumar Yadav, who made a blistering debut in T20, could be given an opportunity to debut in One Day International in place of Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI series against England due to a shoulder injury.
Suryakumar can prove to be a trump card
Suryakumar Yadav had scored 57 runs in the fourth match of the T20 series against England, while the fifth match had hit 32 runs. Like T20, in 50-over cricket, Suryakumar Yadav can prove to be India’s trump card.
Indian batting will gain strength at number 4
Suryakumar Yadav has scored 2779 runs in 98 List A matches, which includes 17 half-centuries and 3 centuries. The playing of Suryakumar Yadav will strengthen Indian batting at number 4. Yadav has confirmed his claim by performing brilliantly in T20 cricket.
Shikhar Dhawan is in form
Apart from this, the biggest relief for India was Shikhar Dhawan’s return to form, who had scored 98 runs in the first match. After being out of the T20 series, there was a lot of pressure on him to perform well. Rohit Sharma suffered an elbow injury in the first match. After giving Rohit a break, Shubman Gill can open the innings with Dhawan in the second match. In such a situation, Rahul will enter the middle order. It is believed that Pant will play as a batsman and Rahul will do wicketkeeping. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav gave 68 runs in nine overs in the first match, replacing leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
