Pune: Team India suffered two major setbacks in the first match of the three-match ODI series against England. Star opener Rohit Sharma and middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer have both been injured. During the Indian innings in the first ODI, in the fifth over, England fast bowler Mark Wood was hit on the elbow of Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma and Iyer got hurt
As soon as the ball struck, Rohit Sharma started bleeding from his hand. Despite the injury, Rohit did not leave the field and kept batting continuously. After this, Rohit Sharma did not come for fielding. Apart from Rohit Sharma, middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer’s left shoulder bone slipped during fielding, making it difficult for him to play in IPL this year as well. If Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer do not play in the remaining two matches of the ODI series against England, then two Indian players can replace them. Let’s take a look at those two players:
1. Shubman Gill in place of Rohit Sharma
If Rohit Sharma does not play in the remaining two matches of the ODI series against England, then Shubman Gill can be included in the playing XI as his opener. Although Shubman Gill’s form is not good, but the team management can give him another chance. Shubman Gill has played 3 ODIs for India so far, in which he has scored 49 runs.
2. Suryakumar Yadav replacing Shreyas Iyer
Suryakumar Yadav made everyone a fan of his explosive innings in the T20 series against England. With Shreyas Iyer not playing, Suryakumar Yadav is set to be selected in the playing eleven for the No.4 batting order. Suryakumar Yadav has the art of shooting different types of shots all around the field. Let us know that the second ODI between India and England will be played on March 24 in Pune. India is leading 1-0 in the series. In the first ODI, India defeated England by 66 runs.
