New Delhi: In his time, Sir Viv Richards (Viv Richards), who was a stalwart and veteran batsman of the West Indies, has supported Team India in the midst of the controversy over the Ahmedabad pitch and has lambasted the England team. Former and current England cricketers are not happy about the spinner-assisted pitch in India. Viv Richards said that the England team was not ready for the challenge.
Questions were raised about the pitch
The uproar over the Ahmedabad pitch increased when India defeated England by 10 wickets on the second day in the third Test to take a 2–1 lead in the four-match series. The pitch was severely criticized by former England captains such as Michael Vaughan and a group of British media.
Viv Richards did not like this debate. Richards said in a video released on his Facebook page, ‘I was recently questioned about the second and third Test played between India and England and I was actually a bit confused about this question, because It seems that there was a lot of mourning over the pitches on which they were playing.
Richards hit England
Viv Richards said, ‘I think those who are mourning should realize that there is a time when we get a favorable wicket for fast bowlers. The ball actually bounces faster than Goodlength and everyone then thinks that it is a problem with the batsmen.
Viv Richards said that playing in India means that you have to face good spinners and it seems that England did not prepare well before the tour. Richards said, “But now you have seen the other side and that’s why it has been named Test Match Cricket, because here, with the mindset and will, all the things that you go through at the time of competition are also tested.”
England’s team proved to be laggards
Viv Richards said, ‘There are complaints that the wicket was taking too much spin and similar things are being done. This is the flip side of the coin. It seems that people forget that when you go to India, you should have such hope. You are going to a country where pitches help spinners. You should really prepare yourself for this.
Richards said that India got him out of his comfortable position after England’s big win at the start of the series. Richards said, ‘England was in a comfortable position from the very first Test match. Right now he has been left out of his comfortable area and he has to find a way to overcome the situations that he has to face. Richards said, ‘Spin is also a part of the game, this is what happens in a Test match. Indian fast bowlers have done well in the last few years. Now you are in India, you will have to face these things and find a way for that.
