There have been reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will now discuss this and the 5th Test will be played later. Official statement has come from BCCI side. In which it has been said that in view of the strong relationship between BCCI and ECB, this Test will be played later and its dates will be discussed.
Update: The BCCI and ECB held several rounds of discussion to find a way to play the match, however, the outbreak of Covid-19 in the Indian team contingent forced the decision of calling off the Old Trafford Test.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement saying, ‘After discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the ECB confirms that the fifth Test between India and England to be held at Old Trafford here from today. The match is cancelled.
The statement said, ‘Due to increasing cases of corona in the camp, India is unable to field the team. We apologize to fans and partners, we know how sad this decision will hurt them. Further information will be given in the coming time’
