Ahmedabad: Team India captain Virat Kohli defended the turning pitch after registering a 10-wicket win against England in the Pink Ball Test. He said that the pitch was not responsible for the end of the match in 2 days, but the performance of the batsmen of both teams was poor.
Virat Kohli said that there was no defect in the pitch, at least in the first innings it was not so and only the ball was turning. While many former cricketers such as Michael Vaughan and Harbhajan Singh said that the pitch was not ideal.

Defending the pitch, the Indian captain said, ‘To be honest, I do not think the batting level was good. Our score was 100 runs for 3 wickets at one time and we were dismissed for less than 150 runs. Only a ball was taking a turn and in the first innings it was a good wicket to bat.
Kohli said that the batsmen of both teams did not try better. Only Rohit Sharma and Jack Crowley of England were able to bat easily. He said, ‘It was strange that 21 wickets out of 30 fell on the straight ball. In Test cricket, you have to show confidence in your defense. By not playing according to this, the batsmen were out early.
England captain Joe Root was not in the mood to make any excuse for this crushing defeat, saying that the visiting team failed to take advantage of a good start in the first innings after winning the toss and decided to bat. It was 70 runs on the wicket. But we could not take advantage of it. The score of 250 runs on this wicket could have been quite good.
Joe Root further said, ‘After this defeat, we will return as a better team. Instead of blaming the pitch, Root said that India’s finest bowling made a difference. He said, ‘The plastic layer on the ball gave rise to the wicket. It was also an excellent bowling level. Both teams were battling on this wicket.
Root said, ‘We should not carry the burden of the previous match in the last match. We saw that we can also take wickets. I think if I can take 5 wickets, then it shows the wicket. He also congratulated Ishant Sharma for achieving 100 Test wickets for Ashwin towards 100 Test matches.
