Ind vs Eng: Virat Kohli’s challenge before the day-night test, ‘If the ball swings, you will fall heavy’

Ahmedabad: Motera is expected to have a pitch that helps spin, but Indian captain Virat Kohli believes that the fast bowlers will also have a big role in the third Day Night Test against England.

In the four-match Test series, both teams are trailing 1–1. Before the third Test, Virat Kohli said that he feels that as long as the ball is solid and bright, the fast bowlers will have a chance in the match.

Kohli (Virat Kohli) said before the match, ‘I think the pink ball swings more than the red ball. When we played for the first time in 2019 (against Bangladesh), we experienced it. Kohli has ruled out that if the pitch helps the fast bowlers, then England’s bowling will be heavy.

Kohli said, ‘I am not disturbed by what are the strong and weak sides of the England team. We have also beaten them at their home ground, where the ball moves more so we are not bothered by it.

Kohli said, ‘And yes, the opposing team also has many weaknesses, if you can take advantage of it. If it will be a fast bowling friendly pitch for them, it will be for us as well.

Both teams will go into this match amid uncertainties. The pink ball is known to help the fast bowlers, but it has to be seen how much it helps the spinners, who are India’s strong side at home.

Senior Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has already said that it will be a spin-friendly pitch. Kohli said that no matter what the surface will be, facing the pink ball is more challenging than the red ball.

He said, ‘Any kind of pitch, playing with pink ball is more challenging. Especially in the evening. Yes, there will definitely be a role for spinners but I don’t think fast bowlers and new balls can be ignored. As long as the ball is solid and bright, then due to the pink ball, they will have a role in the match, which we know about and we are preparing accordingly.
