Chennai: Team India suffered a loss of 227 runs in the Chennai Test against England, after which Virat & Co. were trailing 1-0 in the 4-match series. Indian captain Virat Kohli appeared annoyed with the bowlers.
In the press conference, Virat Kohli expressed disappointment over the quality of bowling and the bowling of spinners Shahbaz Nadeem (Washington Sundar) and Washington Sundar after the defeat in the first match against Chepak Maidan against the English cricket team.

England won the toss and chose to bat first. Thanks to captain Joe Root’s 218-run innings, he scored a score of 578 runs. England gave Team India a target of 420 runs but India’s second innings was reduced to 192.
Kohli said after the match, ‘The pitch here was flat and slow. To be honest, the quality of bowling was not such that it has benefited us before. In Test cricket, the failure of the ball only after 60 overs is not good for any team.
Virat further said, ‘No team will experience this. The same happened to us in the first 2 days but we cannot give any excuse. The England team performed better than us and they deserved the win.
Before Kohli, Team India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also complained about the ball on Monday. Kohli said that while Ishant Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah and Ashwin bowled well, Nadeem and Sundar got plenty of runs.
Virat said, ‘Talking about fast bowlers and Ashwin, they bowled in good department. But I think things could have been different had Sundar and Nadeem bowled better and created pressure. With this England could have scored 80 to 90 runs less.
Team India captain Virat Kohli was also disappointed with the batting, he said, “Also, if we look at batting, if we score more 70-80 runs in the first innings, then the matter could be close.”
