New Delhi: Under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, Team India is facing Sri Lanka in the first match of the three-match series. In this match, senior players have been given a chance along with many young players. But people were surprised when the star wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson was not given a chance in this team. However, it is now clear why this was done.
Why didn’t Sanju get a place?
Middle-order batsman Sanju Samson was ruled out of the first ODI due to a knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement on Sunday saying, ‘Samson has suffered a knee sprain due to which he was not available for this match. The medical team is probing his condition. The Indian Cricket Board, however, did not give any information about whether Samson will play in the second ODI on July 20 at the same ground.
Ishaan and Suryakumar debut
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav made their ODI debuts from this match. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka lost just one wicket after scoring 54 runs in their first 10 overs, but after that none of their batsmen could play long.
Indian bowlers amazing
If we talk about the match, after the end of 50 overs, Sri Lanka’s team has scored 262 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. The Indian bowlers have bowled brilliantly in this match and have not given much chance to the Sri Lankan batsmen to settle down. Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal took 2-2 wickets for India. At the same time, Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya took one wicket each.
