New Delhi: The fifth and deciding Test match between India and England to be held in Manchester was in danger of being cancelled. India took an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series. If India wins the fifth and last Test match to be held in Manchester or even draws, then it will be in possession of the series.
5th test was in danger of being canceled
There was a stir after Team India’s physio Yogesh Parmar turned out to be Corona positive, after which the fifth and deciding Test match was in danger of being canceled. The BCCI was concerned that in the course of playing the fifth Test match, the players of India should not be caught by Corona.
England advised India to accept defeat
The second phase of IPL is about to start in UAE from September 19, so BCCI did not want to take any chances. When BCCI discussed with the England Cricket Board about not playing the fifth Test match, they made a strange offer. According to the news published in the Times of India, the England Cricket Board had placed a condition that if India does not play the fifth Test match, then it will have to give up in this match without playing.
Now the big update on the match
That is, by giving this match to England in the walkover, India would have conceded defeat and the series would have been 2-2, but the BCCI rejected this offer outright. When this offer was received, the BCCI talked to Team India captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on this issue. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma flatly denied this and said that they are ready to play Test matches.
However, after this all the players of the Indian team had a corona test, the report of which has come negative. Now it is clear that the fifth Test match between India and England in Manchester will be held on its scheduled schedule. On September 15, the Indian team and most of the England players will leave on charter flights from Manchester to Dubai to join their respective IPL franchises.
