Dubai: Veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals believes that in the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), when his team takes on the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the pressure will be on the opposition team. Delhi Capitals are on top of the points table with 2 consecutive wins, while Hyderabad have lost both their opening matches so far and need their first win this season.

Mishra said during the virtual press conference on the eve of the match, ‘After losing the first two matches, there is pressure on the team. However, this is only the beginning of the tournament, so it will not make much difference. But we do not do such things in our dressing room. We focus on ourselves.
He said, ‘We have a good rhythm for our match and our confidence is very high. This does not mean that we are satisfied with our performance. Our whole focus is on our plans and giving our best performance on the field. Of course we are not taking them lightly.
Mishra said about Kane Williamson’s return to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team that his team is well prepared to face this challenge. The leg-spinner said, ‘We always have a plan for the whole team. As I already said that we do not take anyone lightly. We have a strategy for both batsman and bowler and the same strategy will also be for Williamson.
37-year-old Mishra is the second highest bowler in the IPL. He has taken 157 wickets in 148 matches so far. He also said about his team’s coach Ricky Ponting, ‘He has played for a long time, so he is aware of the mood of the players. If someone lacks confidence or is over confident, then they know what to say. He always talks positively and has learned a lot about co-ordination with the players.
About the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Mishra said, ‘I see a lot of positive things in him. The good thing for me is that they give me the freedom to field according to me. He always supports the players and I am sure he will go much further as a captain.
